SolidPeer

SolidPeer — Branding

The brand decision, tagline, domain registration plan, and the candidates evaluated en route. The product ships as SolidPeer.

1. Decision in one sentence

The billed gateway in front of bitcoind RPC + Fulcrum + Chaingraph ships under the brand SolidPeer with the tagline "A solid peer for Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash."

2. Brand thread

Both consumer-facing names directly quote Satoshi Nakamoto's 2008 whitepaper title:

"Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System"

SolidCash echoes "Electronic Cash" (the language). SolidPeer echoes "Peer-to-Peer" (the infrastructure). The "Solid" prefix references Solidity. Anyone deep in Bitcoin culture reads the reference instantly.

3. Tagline

"A solid peer for Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash."

Eight words. Quotes the whitepaper title verbatim. "Solid" pulls double duty as brand name and adjective. Self-explaining — says what the product is (a peer) and what it serves (Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash apps). Implicitly accommodates the bitcoin-family roadmap (BCH today, BTC/LTC/DOGE next) since all are "Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash" descendants per Satoshi's framing.

4. Domain registration plan

Tier 1 — operational set (register immediately, ~$110/year)

Domain Status Approx. annual Purpose
solidpeer.io available ~$35 primary; dev-default TLD
solidpeer.cash available ~$45 BCH credibility signal
solidpeer.net available ~$15 .com fallback
solidpeer.org available ~$15 community/protocol signal

Tier 2 — strategic crypto/finance defense (~$275/year, optional)

.ai ($70), .finance ($60), .money ($50), .exchange ($45), .fund (~$50)

These are TLDs a competitor or speculator might grab to confuse the brand once SolidPeer has visibility.

Tier 3 — typosquat insurance (~$150/year, optional)

.app, .dev, .me, .co, .xyz

Skip

The long tail — .world, .group, .solutions, .codes, .technology, etc. ~$400/year of marginal value; speculators rarely target these.

solidpeer.com

Held by a 2026-04-06 speculator registration with no DNS / no website (NXDOMAIN). Not blocking. Strategy: leave alone; after 6–12 months of brand presence, a casual outreach offer ($500–$1k) usually clears 1-month-old speculator holds.

5. Naming criteria

The chosen name had to clear four bars:

  1. Bitcoin axis — bitcoin-coded vocabulary (signals industry, pairs with SolidCash).
  2. Data/infrastructure axis — reads as data provider / RPC service, not as a unit or asset.
  3. Clean namespace — no major brand collisions in crypto, fintech, or developer-tools space; .io and .cash domains free at minimum.
  4. Pairs with SolidCash — same prefix family, ideally a deeper brand thread.

SolidPeer was the only candidate of 15+ tested that hit all four. Specifically:

6. Candidates considered

Candidate Verdict Reason
SolidPeer chosen Hits both axes; clean namespace; whitepaper pair with SolidCash
SolidSat runner-up (positioning) 10/10 TLDs free; "sat" reads as unit, not data/infra
SolidWell runner-up (functional) 8/10 TLDs; data-well metaphor; only HVAC-industry collision
SolidSource considered 7/10 TLDs; IT-services collision in same software industry
SolidStack rejected Multiple software-services firms own the namespace
SolidPort rejected Polish maritime + Rotterdam port-logistics collisions
SolidRail rejected K2 Systems solar-mounting product brand
SolidNode rejected Defunct hosting with shady history; N|Solid (NodeSource) adjacency
SolidInfra rejected SolidBase Infra exists; generic
SolidByte rejected Multiple Solidbyte software-services firms
SolidHash rejected UK SOLIDHASH LTD is a blockchain company (direct industry collision)
SolidChain rejected Multiple crypto/Web3 entities own the namespace
SolidBit ⛔ hard reject SolidBit = ransomware family (RaaS, active since 2022); also defunct Seychelles crypto exchange
SolidBlock ⛔ hard reject SolidBlock real-estate tokenization platform + SOLID token on Ethereum
SolidGraph rejected SolidGraph CAD system holds .com since 2004
SolidRidge rejected Ridge-wallet brand adjacency; broken theme with SolidCash
SolidDwell rejected "Dwell" = stasis; semantically opposite of gateway transit
BitFlow / ByteFlow rejected Multiple existing crypto/IT brands in the exact namespace

Earlier-round non-Solid-prefix exploration considered Bastion, Solidus, Janus, Stater, Quay, Aegis, Atlas, Bulwark, Polaris, Compass, Sextant, Codex, Bifrost, Heimdall, Solder. Abandoned in favor of the Solid+X family once brand cohesion with SolidCash was set as a hard requirement.
